That All May Know

I just read 1 Kings 8:41-43

41 “Likewise, when a foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, comes from a far country for your name’s sake 42 (for they shall hear of your great name and your mighty hand, and of your outstretched arm), when he comes and prays toward this house,43 hear in heaven your dwelling place and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to you, in order that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house that I have built is called by your name.”

Oh that All people may know Him.

Our last several days back home were incredible. We got to spend wonderful time with local Christians and meet some of their Muslim friends and have really good conversations with them. For a group coming from Hawaii who are familiar with Daoism, Buddhism, and other Eastern beliefs, a week in the thick of the Muslim world was a lot. It was an eye opening experience. Every member of the team has told me on more than one occasion that they want to go back. They fell in love with Arab people and culture. It made my heart happy.

Our day in New York was spent in two manners: 1) sleeping for 6 hours on the cold granite floor of JFK airport which was followed by 2) walking around time square, seeing the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Central Park and Korean war memorial starting at 3 am and working our way into the morning.

Our Day in Dallas was spent with the wonderful Laci Reid. She is a dear Aunti of mine who used to live back home and has been a strong influence in my life. It was wonderful to spend the day with her. It was also wonderful to miss the tornadoes that struck the city by less than a days worth of time.

One of my favorite quotes by the team went something along the lines of this, “The people we spent our time with were all wonderful. LA, New York, Jordan, Dallas… everyone we met was incredible. God taught us just as much if not more than we were able to teach.”

God has plans for everyone affected by this trip, both here in Hawaii and elsewhere. Pray that the Lord of the Harvest would send out Laborers into the Harvest.
